Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Guidelines for authors

  1. Submission of all manuscripts is done online. You need to create an account by registering to the Journal before you can submit. Register using the Rigister link on the top right menu of the Journal of Adult Education home page. Once you register follow the step by step submission process.  
  2. The title of the manuscript should be precise and informative. It should be centred and in lower case except for the words whose first letter should be in uppercase. This should be followed by authors’ name (s) and address (es). * should be used to indicate the corresponding author if there are several authors.
  3. The abstract should not be more than 350 words including keywords and it should include the motivation of the study, research gap, objectives/questions, research design, findings and conclusion. The keywords should not be more than six (6).
  4. The main text should contain clear headings and sub-headings which should not be numbered but written in bold or italics were necessary. The main text should include an introduction that should provide the motivation of the study, and research objectives or research questions. This should be followed by a concise literature study and theoretical/conceptual framework. Methodology, Findings, Discussions of findings, Conclusions and Recommendations, Acknowledgments and References in this order.
  5. Every manuscript must be typed in MSWord to meet the following page margin standards:

       Top        :           25 mm

       Bottom  :           25 mm

       Right       :           25 mm

        Left         :           40 mm

 The manuscript should be within these margins including tables, diagrams, page numbers, figures and graphs and should be consistent throughout. No chapters are allowed in the manuscript.

  1. Times New Romans size 12 should be used in the manuscript including the abstract, references and appendices. The line spacing should be 1.5 for the manuscript and 1.0 for the abstract.
  2. Every page of the manuscript should be numbered in Arabic numerals at the bottom centre of the page.  
  3. The manuscript should be written in English (UK), except for sources/citations, and quotations that may be in other languages. The non-English words used in the manuscript must be in italics.
  4. Tables and figures should be clearly captioned as Table 1, Figure 1 and so forth.
  5. The length of the manuscript should not be more than 8000 words.
  6. All manuscripts should adhere to the APA referencing system.
